A recent French parliamentary report compares the distribution of water in the West Bank and in the Jordan Valley in particular to a form of apartheid. It states that the 450 000 Israelis living there consume 222 million m3 of water per year Vs the 70million m3 that the 2,3 million Palestinians use. Local NGO’s accuse of Israeli authority of using security considerations to justify this situation. Meanwhile the Jordan River has lost 98% of its original flow, is running dry in certain place and polluted in others.
