Alexandra Cousteau’s Expedition Blue Planet: Petitcodiac- Restoring the Chocolate River
A reminder of good news recovery stories…
This short film tells the story of the Petitcodiac River which was almost dead, strangled by a causeway built across its width in 1968 on the outskirts of New Brunswick. The causeway practically dammed the river, and fish numbers plummeted. A protracted battle began to restore the river to its former glory and in 2010 for the first time in 42 years, the gates on the causeway were opened to restore free flow between this unique tidal river and the sea.
Water is meant to flow - let it flow - freely - for all.
