Mountains of the Moon - Climbing for Water

In August, 2011, seven climbers went into the remote Rwenzori Mountains of Uganda to climb the third highest peak in Africa: Mount Stanley’s Margherita Peak (5,109 meters/16,763 feet), via the Kilembe Trail.

The climb was about far more than climbing, however. As the first expedition of Challenge21 www.challenge21.com, the Rwenzori climb was about creating change in our world.

Dedicated to raising awareness worldwide about the water and sanitation crisis, and to raising funds for non-profit partner Water For People www.waterforpeople.org, Challenge21 founder, Jake Norton, is focused on climbing the Triple Seven Summits, or the three highest peaks on all seven continents.

The 2011 Rwenzori Expedition was a huge success in all regards, with fundraising goals shattered and much awareness raised.

The Rwenzori team included: Collin Barry, Ned Breslin, Dan Fillipi, Charlie Lovering, Barb Neary, Tim Ryan, and Jake Norton.
