Once the world’s fourth largest lake, Central Asia’s Aral Sea is now famous for environmental catastrophe. With 90 percent of its water lost through Soviet Union irrigation projects, it’s now little more than a disaster yet the Aral Sea was once the fourth largest inland body of water in the world.
